Program Description

Event Description

This month's program will be only virtual to keep staff and patrons safe

The launch of Sputnik I in October 1957 marked the beginning of the space era and of the space race between the United States and the Soviet Union. In the 21st century, there are many more participants in space, including countries such as India and China, and commercial companies such as SpaceX. How will the United States fare in a crowded outer space? Gary Midkiff, a college history professor, and author leads the discussions.

Briefing Books are available at the Questions Desk for a one-week checkout. If you wish to purchase your own Great Decisions 2022 Briefing Book book, call the Foreign Policy Association 1 (800) 477-5836  or go to the Foreign Policy Association Bookstore

Great Decisions Series

Great Decisions is America’s largest discussion program on the most critical global issues facing America today. The series involves reading a chapter in the Great Decisions Briefing Book (available at the Questions Desk), watching a video before the discussion, then meeting as a group to talk about it.
