Earth has sustained life in many different forms for more than 3 billion years. Michelle Nichols, Director of Public Observing at the Adler Planetarium, will take us on a brief history of the earth. She will highlight an (incomplete) list of 12 things that make our planet special – a list that also influences what astronomers look for as they search for Earth-like planets elsewhere.
